Sour gas mixing and shut-off/stop valves

Producing large and complex valves is a major part of our expertise. On one project we were commissioned to produce a number of sour gas mixing valves. The specification for these valves required precise consideration to extreme heat tolerances ranging from 750°F - 1300°F (399°C – 704°C) and to the highly corrosive nature of sulfuric sour gas. These valves were quite large, some as large as 84” in diameter.

All of the valves were designed with a number of built-in features to meet the demanding requirements, including: bubble tight shut-off valves, double jacketing, pressurized packing glands, removable bonnets, access ports and sulfur seals on disks and packing. Full penetration welding procedures were also required and each pump was either diaphragm or cylinder activated. Depending on the application, valves were designed with ‘fail-open’ or ‘fail-close’ safety features.
