High Pressure Flare K.O. Drum

The largest of 9 vessels completed in a package for a gas plant in Northern, BC and the heaviest ever completed in our Maple Ridge facility to date.

When completed this knock out drum was over 53’ long and had a dry weight of 55 tons. During hydro-testing the strength of our shops concrete floor was perhaps tested even more than the integrity of the vessel. Engineering estimated that it had a capacity weight in excess of 220 tons. The point loads were so great that for municipal reasons a 156’ low-boy was used during transport to disperse the weight. Backing into our shop with such a large trailer would have been impossible if it were not for our helpful neighbors, who agreed the removal of a significant portion of their fence to accommodate transport. Following the successful completion of this project, we have since been awarded jobs to fabricate 7 more vessels in a similar package from the same customer.
